Is it really warm on Tenerife in winter?

Yes! El Médano in December, January and February is a true paradise. Daytime temperatures are 20–24 °C, often over 30–40 °C in the sun. You can sunbathe in swimwear or shorts.

What should you wear?

  • During the day: swimwear, shorts, T-shirt – classic summer clothing
  • Evenings: light jacket or thin coat (especially when windy)
  • In strong wind: windproof jacket – the wind can feel chilly

Wind and water sports

Winter is a great time for kitesurfing, windsurfing and wingfoil. It blows on about 60% of days, often 25–35 knots (sometimes up to 40). The strongest wind comes from Africa.
