Discover the island at your own pace
Tenerife can be explored in many ways. From the surf spot El Médano you can reach both Mount Teide and historic towns, mountain villages and spectacular coastal roads. Whether by hire car, bus (TITSA) or on foot in the old towns – the island has something for every style of travel.
Sometimes you travel spontaneously – that is how it was for me when I bought a kitesurfing course, and half a year later I was already in the south of Tenerife. Whether planned or spontaneous: you can always put together your own itinerary.
By car – the most flexible option
A hire car is ideal for reaching Masca, Teide, Los Gigantes and remote mountain villages. The coastal road and the hairpin bends in the north-west are spectacular but require careful driving. From El Médano to Santa Cruz is about 60–75 minutes.
By bus – cheap and reliable
