How to transport kiteboard, kite and bicycle by plane to Tenerife?
I have flown to Tenerife twice with sports equipment. The first time I had kiteboard + kite + bar + harness; the second time a bicycle. Here are my practical experiences.
1. Kiteboard + kite (most common option)
It is best to buy a good rigid bag (triple-layer). Board, kite, bar and harness all fit inside. It closes securely with a zip and is robust against damage.
2. Bicycle
The bicycle must be prepared:
- Deflate the tyres
- Remove the pedals
- Turn the handlebars parallel to the frame
- Lower the saddle as far as possible
I recommend a dedicated bicycle bag or a sturdy cardboard box.
Tips for surfers and kitesurfers
For 1–2 people a taxi from the airport (around €20) is often cheaper and more comfortable than the bus when travelling with large sports baggage.
