Masca – a magical mountain village you must see
Masca is the most visited mountain village on Tenerife. It lies in the north-west of the island at about 600 m above sea level in a beautiful nature reserve.
Note: The road to Masca follows very narrow hairpin bends. Oncoming traffic is difficult – great care is required. The drive from El Médano takes about 30–40 minutes.
The village is not a commercial tourist centre – there are no hotels, large restaurants or nightclubs. It is an authentic Canarian mountain village with traditional houses, narrow lanes and stunning views.
On a clear day you can see the neighbouring island of La Gomera from here. The village is surrounded by steep cliffs and lush vegetation – ideal for nature lovers and photographers.
