When is the best time for kitesurfing on Tenerife?
El Médano is one of the world's best kitesurfing spots thanks to the trade winds. The most stable wind is from May to October, but even in winter (November–April) it often blows 15–25 kt.
Basic kitesurfing equipment
- Bar – control bar for steering the kite
- Lines – 4 or 5 lines (most commonly 22 m)
- Chicken loop – safety loop
- Harness – waist harness is the most popular
- Board – twin-tip or directional
- Kite – inflatable LEI kite, size depending on weight and wind
